As part of our lectures in Practical Photography, we learnt about photographers such as Anthony Haughey, Robert Frank and Bernd & Hilla Becher who used the concept of Typology when documenting their photographs. They created a series of images that were shot in a consistent manner and often repetitive in nature.
For the work of Bernd & Hilla Becher, they displayed their images as a complete series. They grouped their photographs by subject, and displayed the images in grids of either 6, 9 or 15 photographs.
Below is a picture of a typology that they created called Winding Towers
Having reviewed the work of Bernd & Hilla Becher, I decided to put together a typology of Dublin Pubs. I took the shots of Dublin Pubs over the period 25th - 30th October 2011.
When taking the photographs, I had to ensure that I captured the photographs in landscape, taken as close as possible to the pub front, and also ensure that not many people were in the photographs.
